The Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday that pitcher Julian Merryweather is the "player to be named later" from the trade that sent Josh Donaldson to Cleveland.

The move confirms a report that immediately followed the deal, which stated that Merryweather was unable to be named at the time of the trade because he was on the disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Merryweather, 26, was drafted by Cleveland in the fifth round of the 2014 draft and has made 65 minor league starts. He accumulated a 23-20 record over four years in the minors, with a 3.92 ERA in 83 total appearances.

Toronto designated 28-year-old Jon Berti for assignment to make room for Merryweather on the 40-man roster.
