Hamilton's bond has been set at $35,000, according to the report.
One of the stipulations of his bond is that he not have contact with one of his daughters. That has also reportedly been extended to any child under the age of 17.
Hamilton, 38, was the No. 1 pick in the 1999 draft by the Devil Rays.
His career took several rough turns with some substance-abuse issues, but he turned his life and career around and found his way again with the Reds hitting .292 with 19 home runs as a 26-year-old in 2007.
He then moved on to Texas where he made five All-Star teams and hit 150 home runs while batting .290.
Hamilton finished second in the 2008 home run derby when he set a then-record with 28 home runs in the first round.
The North Carolina native also played for the Angels in his nine-year MLB career.
