Some things in baseball are too funny to die.

The home run off Jose Canseco's head. Joe Niekro casually trying to discard a nail file without the umpires noticing. A-Rod pretending he didn't slap the ball away.

MORE: That time a player got two hits, for two teams, on the same day

But perhaps the granddaddy of them all happened on Aug. 4, 1993 — when Nolan Ryan beat the crap out of Robin Ventura.

Here's a brief summary of events:

— Ryan plunks Ventura.

— Ventura charges the mound.

— Ryan, 46, immediately puts Ventura, 25, in a headlock and pounds away.

— Ventura must live with this forever.

Don't mess with the Texan.

Happy anniversary, Robin.
