NCAA baseball selection show 2023: Time, TV channel for Road to College World Series bracket reveal image

College baseball's annual pilgrimage to Omaha begins in earnest with the NCAA baseball selection show on Monday.

Last year's road to the College World Series offered its own brand of madness as unseeded Ole Miss claimed its first ever baseball championship over similarly unranked Oklahoma. It also marked the third straight CWS in which an SEC team claimed the national title following Mississippi State in 2021 and Vanderbilt in 2019.

The conference once again looks like a strong contender to produce baseball's national champion this year, with three teams projected among the top four national seeds: 2-seed Arkansas, 3-seed Florida and 4-seed LSU. Three other teams have a strong chance to host a regional site in the likes of Vanderbilt, Kentucky and South Carolina.

Of course, the beauty of baseball is that any team can win on any given day: plenty of reason to tune in and watch all the action unfold throughout the month of June. And it all starts with Monday's selection of the 64 tournament teams.

The 2023 NCAA baseball selection show will take place on Monday, May 29. The bracket is tentatively scheduled to be unveiled at noon ET, though the 16 regional sites will be unveiled the previous night.

Each of the 27 conference tournament finals are scheduled no later than Sunday, so there should be no delay in Monday's bracket reveal.

What channel is the NCAA baseball selection show on?

  • TV channel: ESPN2

This year's selection show will air on ESPN2. Streaming options include the ESPN app, ESPN+ or Fubo, which offers a free trial.

NCAA baseball tournament 2023 selection format

The 2023 NCAA Division I baseball tournament will consist of 64 teams: 30 automatic qualifiers and 34 at-large, as determined by the tournament committee. Previously, 31 teams automatically qualified, though that number was reduced with MEAC baseball joining the NEC this season as affiliate members this season.

Regionals

The top 16 teams as determined by the committee will host regionals across the country. Each region consists of four teams competing in a double-elimination format. Two games will take place to start the competition, with two winners advancing to the winners bracket and two losers relegated to the losers bracket, respectively.

The losing team from the losers bracket game will be eliminated; the team that beat them will advance to play the loser from the winner's bracket game. The loser of that game will be eliminated, while the winner will have the chance to play the winning team from the winner's bracket.

To advance to the super regionals, the team from the loser's bracket must win twice. The team advancing out of the winner's bracket only has to win once.

Super Regionals

The winners of the 16 regionals will advance to one of eight super regional sites, each consisting of two teams in a best-of-three series. The winner from the top overall region will play the winner of the 16-seed region, the 2-seed region winner will play the 15-seed region winner, and so on.

The top eight seeds are guaranteed to host a super regional if they advance past the regional round of play. Otherwise, the higher-seeded team will host. For example, 10-seed North Carolina hosted unseeded Arkansas in the 2022 Chapel Hill Super Regional, despite the fact the Razorbacks beat the higher-seeded team in the regional round (7-seed Oklahoma State).

If two non-seeded teams play in the super regionals, they will bid on the right to host.

College World Series

Following the super regional round, eight teams will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. They will be divided into two four-team brackets that mirror the regional round's double-elimination format. The two teams to advance from their respective brackets will play in a best-of-three series to determine the national champion.
