New York entered Saturday having lost its last four contests against Oakland, but prevailed in its latest.

The Yankees topped the Athletics in dramatic fashion, as infielder DJ LeMahieu blasted a walkoff home run in the bottom of the 11th inning, vaulting his team to a 4-3 victory at Yankee Stadium. 

While LeMahieu went 1 for 5 on the day, he came up big when his team needed him most. Gary Sanchez was 2 for 3 at the plate and hit two home runs.

New York only tallied six hits but four of them cleared the outfield wall.

Matt Olson notched three hits in his four at-bats and was instrumental to the success of the Athletics' offense.

The Yankees lead the American League East at 89-48 while Oakland is second in the American League West at 78-57.

Mitch Garver hit two home runs in the Twins' 10-7 loss to the Tigers.

Stephen Strasburg recorded 14 strikeouts in Washington's 7-0 victory against the Marlins.

Anthony Santander hit two home runs in Baltimore's 7-5 loss to Kansas City.

Marcell Ozuna went 0 for 4 in St. Louis' 10-6 win over the Reds.

Milwaukee's Orlando Arcia went 0 for 4 as the Brewers topped the Cubs 2-0.

Highlight

This clutch hit by Matt Carpenter secured a win for the Cardinals.

What's Next?

Indians (79-57) at Rays (79-58) 1:10 p.m. ET — Cleveland has dropped two straight games to Tampa Bay, which is just a half-game back in the American League wild-card race. The Athletics are also a half-game back from the Indians.
