Miami has Philadelphia's number.

Although the Marlins are last in the NL East standings, they beat the second-place Phillies three times in a row this weekend.

Miami topped Philadelphia, 6-4, Sunday and dominated at the plate, outhitting the Phillies 16-4.

Garrett Cooper, Brian Anderson and J.T. Riddle all hit home runs for the Marlins in a complete team effort.

"(I) can't say enough about the hitting," Cooper said. "Hitting is contagious and everybody came through with big hits."

Eight Marlins recorded at least one hit in the victory. Miami handed Philadelphia its seventh straight loss.

Studs of the Night

Second baseman Luis Arraez went 4 for 4 in the Twins' 6-1 loss to the Royals.

Justin Verlander recorded nine strikeouts in seven innings as the Astros took down the Yankees, 9-4.

Brandon Woodruff mowed down 12 batters in the Brewers' 7-5 victory over the Reds.

Duds of the Night

Third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was hitless in five at-bats, but Toronto topped Boston, 6-1.

Third baseman Anthony Rendon went 0 for 5 in the Nationals' 4-3 loss to the Braves.

Highlights

Brock Holt tried to out run Blue Jays' Lourdes Gurriel Jr. It didn't end well for the Red Sox infielder.

Giants second baseman Joe Panik didn't need a glove to make this play.

What's Next?

Mets (37-41) at Phillies (39-38) 7:05 p.m. ET —New York and Philadelphia are both going through tough times, but one of these NL East squads has to get back on track. The Mets will send Steven Matz (5-5, 4.28 ERA) to the mound while the Phillies will counter with Zach Eflin (6-7, 2.83 ERA).
