MLB wrap: Cody Bellinger helps Dodgers top Red Sox on his birthday image

The Dodgers beat the reigning MLB champions handily on Saturday, and on Cody Bellinger's birthday no less.

Los Angeles claimed an 11-2 victory over the Red Sox in Boston, gifting Bellinger with a big-time win.

Bellinger made his own wishes come true by going 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs. He also hit a home run, which tied him with Milwaukee's Christian Yelich for the most in the league this year at 31.

Bellinger even got some MVP chants at Fenway Park.

Justin Turner and Max Muncy each recorded three hits in five at-bats on the night and also hit one home run apiece.

Xander Bogaerts went 2 for 3 and hit a home run in Boston's losing effort.

The Dodgers are now 61-33 and sit atop the National League West while the Red Sox are third in the American League East.

Studs of the Night

Noah Syndergaard struck out nine batters in the Mets' 4-2 win against the Marlins.

Matt Chapman went 3 for 4 and recorded an RBI and two runs as Oakland trampled the White Sox 13-2.

Duds of the Night

Jordan Lyles gave up seven earned runs in less than an inning as the Pirates lost to the Cubs 10-4.

Miguel Cabrera was hitless in four at-bats in Detroit's 4-1 loss to the Royals.

Bryce Harper was hitless in four at-bats in the Phillies' 4-3 loss to the Nationals.

Highlight

Minnesota's Byron Buxton covered a lot of ground to make this play.

What's Next?

Nationals (49-42) at Phillies (47-45) 1:05 p.m. ET — Washington barely edged out Philadelphia 4-3 on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park and Bryce Harper did not have a good game. The Phillies will be looking to bounce back in this rivalry.
