MLB wrap: Cardinals dominate Brewers, win fifth straight image

St. Louis is on a roll, and its 12-2 victory against Milwaukee on Monday extended its winning streak to five games.

The Cardinals' hits matched their RBIs on the night, as they notched 12 of each. They also got home runs from Yadier Molina and Paul DeJong.

The Brewers, on the other hand, had nine hits but struggled to bring runners home in the contest. Monday's loss was their second in a row, dropping them to 67-64 on the year.

St. Louis leads the National League Central at 72-58, leaving Milwaukee 5 1/2 games behind.

Only the Dodgers, Braves and Nationals have better records than the Cardinals in the National League.

Studs of the Night

Freddy Galvis went 3 for 5 and tallied four RBIs to help the Reds top the Marlins, 6-3.

JT Realmuto went 3 for 5 and scored two runs in the Phillies' 6-5 victory over the Pirates.

Ryan McMahon hit a two-run homer to lift the Rockies past the Braves, 3-1.

Dud of the Night

Milwaukee's Gio Gonzalez forked up nine runs (seven earned) in five innings of work.

Highlight

Sean Rodriguez gave the Phillies a win with this walk-off home run in the 11th inning.

What's Next?

Cubs (69-61) at Mets (67-63) 7:10 p.m. ET —  Chicago is just two games ahead of New York in the National League wild-card race. The Cubs were swept by the Nationals in their last series while the Mets were swept by the Braves. Both teams need wins.
