MLB trade rumors: Yankees, Rays still interested in Ken Giles despite elbow issue image

Ken Giles still has a trade market.

The Yankees and Rays have "at least inquired" about Giles in recent days, despite the fact he has not pitched since July 27 due to injury, according to The Athletic.

He did receive a cortisone shot in his elbow Tuesday, so he could be on the mend.

Giles has been fantastic this year going 2-2 with a 1.54 ERA with 14 saves in 35 games for the Blue Jays.

However, he was traded to the Blue Jays from the Astros last season after he struggled in non-save situations and had two separate emotional outbursts on the mound after he had issues.

In one instance he was seen punching himself in the face and in another he appeared to curse at manager A.J. Hinch when he came to remove him from a game.

He was demoted to Triple-A and then traded to Toronto in a package for Roberto Osuna.

Giles also struggled in the 2017 playoffs and especially the World Series where he lost his closer role after posting an 11.74 ERA in 7 2/3 innings pitched.

However, he has been very good this season and some may believe he has figured out his issues. Whoever trades for him though will have to be comfortable with that assumption.
