MLB trade news: Diamondbacks acquire pitcher Zac Gallen from Marlins image

The Diamondbacks are adding.

Arizona has acquired pitcher Zac Gallen from the Marlins, the team announced Wednesday.

Gallen, 23, has been fantastic in limited time in the Marlins' rotation posting a 1-3 record with a 2.72 ERA in seven games (seven starts) and 36 1/3 innings pitched. He also struck out 43 batters after he went 9-1 with a 1.77 ERA to start the year in Triple-A.

The Marlins have received Jazz Chisholm in return. He is the team's No. 1 prospect and the No. 59 prospect in all of baseball, according to MLB Pipeline.

Arizona remains engaged in trade talks for lefty Robbie Ray. The Astros, Yankees and Rays reportedly are also going after him, so this very well could be a move to make up for losing the lefty at the deadline, which ends Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.
