For the first time since 1939, a hurricane is eyeing California. 

The Golden State has enjoyed a golden age of silence from the tropics, as hurricanes typically prefer the heat and humidity of the east coast over the desert-like conditions that southern California has to offer. And while, on the surface, a few inches of rain doesn't seem like a lot, it is for that region.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service have said that some areas can receive a year's worth of rain when the storm makes its landfall as a Tropical Storm.

The region can expect Hilary to cause plenty of issues in the immediate future and baseball, as expected, isn't considered to be a concern for local authorities. MLB has stepped in to reveal their plan for the weekend as the west coast braces for a once-in-a-lifetime event. 

The Sporting News is tracking the latest news and updates on the sporting events that are being impacted by Hurricane Hilary's wrath.

Latest news, updates on MLB games impacted by Hurricane Hilary

According to a release from MLB, the league will be rescheduling games for the team's in the path of the storm.

With the Dodgers, Angels and Padres all playing at home over the weekend, each team is going to be impacted.

MLB said that all three teams will have their Sunday home games rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 19 — making for three split-admission doubleheaders across southern California. According to MLB, tickets for Sunday will be valid for the earlier game in each series, while Saturday tickets are good for the originally scheduled time.

Here is how it breaks down for each team:

Marlins at Dodgers

  • Game 1 start time: 12:00 p.m. PT
  • Game 2 start time: 6:10 p.m. PT

Diamondbacks at Padres

  • Game 1 start time: 12:10 p.m. PT 
  • Game 2 start time: 5:40 p.m. PT

  • Game 1 start time: 1:07 p.m. PT
