WATCH: Highlights from every MLB All-Star Game since 1970 image

For every all-time memorable moment from the MLB All-Star Game, there are at least a dozen forgotten contributions from some of the game's greatest stars.

Cluch homers, dominant pitching performances, cool defensive gems — all worth remembering, but still pushed to the deepest recesses of our minds.

Because you know you need it, baseball fans, here's at least one highlight from every All-Star Game since 1970. The classics are here, but so are some cool things you either don't remember or never knew. Plus a few more things that represented a player's most significant All-Star contribution. Watch some, watch all or just scroll to a particular year.

1970

Pete Rose scores the winning runs when he barrels over Ray Fosse in perhaps the most memorable collision of all time.

1971

Reggie Jackson hits a ball off the roof at Tiger Stadium. That didn't usually happen.

1972

Hank Aaron homers in front of his hometown fans in Atlanta.

1973

Bobby Bonds goes deep and wins the All-Star Game MVP.

1974

Steve Garvey's diving stop gets the National League out of an inning.

1975

Steve Garvey hits a home run in Milwaukee to put the NL on the board. Garvey was a big deal in the '70s.

1976

Garvey opens the scoring with a triple. Like I said, a big deal.

1977

Future Hall of Famer Joe Morgan opens the scoring with a solo homer to right at Yankee Stadium.

Another from '77: Dave-Winfield-with-the-Padres alert! The future Hall of Famer drivers in two with a single.

1978

Royals legend George Brett gets the scoring started with an RBI double in the first inning in San Diego.

Later, Garvey (there he is, being a big deal again) ties the game with a single off Jim Palmer.

1979

It's hard to decide which throw from game MVP Dave Parker is better. This one ...

... Or this one. Regardless, it was usually best to not test the Cobra.

1980

Ken Griffey Sr. takes Tommy John deep to put the NL on the board.

1981

Expos catcher and future Hall of Famer Gary Carter hits his second homer of the game to cut into an AL lead.

Later, Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt clubs a two-run, go-ahead shot in the eighth inning that gave the NL yet another win.

1982

Cincinnati's Dave Concepcion hits a two-run jack off Dennis Eckersley to give the NL a 2-1 lead en route to another win.

1983

Fred Lynn takes the Atlee Hammaker deep for the first grand slam in All-Star history. Bonus: Vin Scully at the mic.

1984

Rookie sensation Dwight Gooden, at 19 years old, dominates AL hitters at Candlestick Park in San Francisco.

Later, an in-his-prime Dale Murphy launches one to left off eventual AL MVP and Cy Young winner Willie Hernandez to extend the NL lead.

1985

Eventual NL MVP Willie McGee doubles home two runs as the NL again wins easily.

1986

AL starter Roger Clemens throws three perfect innings in the Astrodome, playing in front of his home-state fans.

1987

Montreal's Tim Raines breaks a scoreless tie in the 13th inning with a two-run triple that proves enough for an NL win.

1988

Terry Steinbach of the A's homers off Dwight Gooden on his way to the All-Star Game MVP award.

1989

Bo Jackson leads off the game for the AL with a booming homer to center as Vin Scully chats with former President Ronald Reagan.

Moments later, Wade Boggs makes it back-to-back dingers as the Gipper lends an assist on the call.

1990

Julio Franco knocks home two with a seventh-inning double that breaks a scoreless tie at Wrigley Field and helps lead the AL to victory.

1991

Cal Ripken Jr. hits a three-run homer in Toronto to put the AL in front on his way to winning the game's MVP award.

Later, Carlton Fisk, at 43 years old, becomes the oldest player to get a hit in an All-Star Game.

1992

One Hall of Famer bests another. Ken Griffey Jr. takes Greg Maddux deep in what became a 13-6 AL rout.

1993

This humorous Randy Johnson-John Kruk showdown is what's most popular ... 

... but it's future Hall of Famer Kirby Puckett who does the most damage, going 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs.

1994

Fred McGriff hits a two-run, game-tying homer off Lee Smith to send the game to extras ... 

... which leads to this walk-off double from Moises Alou in the 10th that scores a very happy Tony Gwynn.

1995

Mike Piazza hits his first All-Star homer, a game-tying shot in the seventh inning off Kenny Rogers. ...

... But it's Jeff Conine who earned MVP honors with a go-ahead homer in the eighth.

1996

Piazza makes a difference again, winning the All-Star MVP award in part because of this mammoth homer in Philly.

1997

Edgar Martinez greets Greg Maddux rather rudely, smacking a solo homer to give the AL a 1-0 lead.

1998

Barry Bonds hits a colossal homer off a young (and thin) Bartolo Colon that hits the Giants banner on the facing of the upper deck at Coors Field. 

1999

The story of this game is Pedro Martinez, who goes through the NL lineup like he's in an even higher league (which he was).

2000

Reigning NL MVP Chipper Jones goes 3-for-3 with a homer in front of his home crowd.

2001

Most people remember this: In a Hollywood-esque moment, Cal Ripken homers in his final All-Star Game.

But you might not remember Derek Jeter's homer to center in the sixth.

2002

Torii Hunter robs Barry Bonds of a first-inning homer in Milwaukee, then Bonds has a little fun.

But Hunter couldn't do anything about what Bonds did in his next at-bat.

2003

The Rangers' Hank Blalock homers in the eighth inning off the seemingly invincible Eric Gagne to put the AL back in front for good.

2004

Big Papi hits a long homer in Houston as the AL wins again.

2005

Miguel Tejada hits a bomb off John Smoltz to put the AL in front early in Detroit.

2006

In his first All-Star at-bat, David Wright hits a homer on the first pitch he sees.

But Michael Young eventually ruined everything for the NL with a two-out, two-strike, two-run go-ahead triple in the ninth off Trevor Hoffman.

2007

Ichiro hits a two-run, stand-up inside-the-park home run in San Francisco, thanks to those quirky outfield dimensions. 

2008

A loooong night at Yankee Stadium ends with Michael Young's walk-off sac fly in the 15th inning.

2009

Carl Crawford takes away a go-ahead homer from Brad Hawpe in the seventh inning of a tie game.

2010

Brian McCann clears the bases with a seventh-inning double to erase a 1-0 AL lead and give the NL its first win since 1996.

2011

Prince Fielder hits a three-run homer that gives the NL all the offense it needs to win its second straight.

2012

Pablo Sandoval, Rafael Furcal and Ryan Bruan each hit triples in an NL rout.

2013

Brandon Phillips makes a couple of All-Star-caliber defensive plays at Citi Field in New York.

2014

Derek Jeter singles in his final All-Star at-bat.

2015

Mike Trout leads off the game for the AL with an opposite-field homer off Zack Greinke on his way to a second straight All-Star MVP award.

2016

Royals teammates Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez take matters into their own hands in the second inning, as Hosmer homers to tie the game moments before Perez breaks the 1-1 tie with a two-run homer to put the AL in front for good.

Later, David Ortiz walks in his final All-Star plate appearance and exits to a standing ovation from the crowd and his AL teammates.

2017

Robinson Cano hits a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning to pace the AL to a 2-1 win.

2018

The 2018 game is defined by one thing: dingers. So many dingers. The AL wins again, 8-6.

So there you go.
