Micah Parsons is one of the biggest names in Texas due to his status as one of the top pass-rushers in the NFL. But he's staying true to his roots for this year's World Series as he cheers on his hometown Phillies.

Parsons was born in Harrisburg, Pa., and went to Penn State, where he became a collegiate superstar. He tweeted through Game 1 of the Fall Classic between the Astros and Phillies on Friday. He was thrilled to see Philadelphia go up 1-0 in the series with a stunning 6-5, 10-inning win.

Parsons, naturally, received pushback in his mentions. Not for rooting against Houston — Houston and Dallas may as well be on different coasts — but for rooting for a team that shares a city with the hated Eagles.

Here's a sample of Parsons' tweets:

It's innocuous stuff. Parsons is a transplant who still has roots back home. Anyone who looks in the replies does so at their own risk.

And Philadelphia has its own conflict: There are photos of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts wearing an Astros hat in 2020. Hurts was born in Houston and is an Astros fan.

Hurts, however, is taking the diplomatic approach and making it sound as though he doesn't care who wins the series.

"I'm Houston born and raised, I love my city," he said this week, per John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. "That's my hometown, but my home now is Philly. And I love this city too. That's how I deal with it."

Parsons is talking in no such riddles. Still, it'll be a cold day in Hades when Dallas fans are caught saying "Go Philly," in any context.
