Marcus Stroman injury update: Mets right-hander expects to make next start image

Marcus Stroman doesn't expect to miss any time.

The 28-year-old right-hander was removed from New York's matchup against the Indians on Wednesday at Citi Field in the fourth inning. He threw 62 pitches and surrendered one run on five hits before departing.

Stroman underwent an MRI after the game, which revealed left hamstring tightness, and he said one day later he believes he'll make his next start.

The Mets went on to top Cleveland in extra innings Wednesday when JD Davis delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th.

Stroman appeared to be in good spirits following the win.

New York acquired Stroman from the Blue Jays before the trade deadline in exchange for two pitching prospects. He holds a 1-0 record and a 4.58 ERA in four starts with the team.

“I think I need to be better," Stroman said, via The Athletic. "I think I will be better.”

Stroman is scheduled to return to the mound against the Cubs on Tuesday.

The Mets entered play Thursday 1 1/2 games out of the second National League wild-card spot with a 66-60 record.
