The dog days of summer are upon us.

Stores are decked out in back-to-school decor, heat waves are in full force and the countdown to football kickoffs and holiday festivities are near. That must mean one thing, and one thing only — the Little League World Series is here.

Sometimes seen as the capper to the summer calendar in sports, the action in Williamsport, Pa., is almost underway. This year's edition will see 20 teams vying for glory on the diamond and potentially providing a peak into the future of baseball.

Teams across the world have worked for the moment to play on Little League's biggest stage — coming from all around the globe, competing in tournaments that date all the way back to February.

By the end of the tournament, one team will etch their names into baseball's history books.
