Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco tried to do a nice thing and toss some underhand pitches to one of his children in a time-honored bonding tradition.

Instead, Carrasco took a comebacker to the groin in a moment captured on video and shared Wednesday on Instagram. Part of his mistake was inviting his kid forward before pitching, lessening the reaction time he had available to get out of the way. But it was also simply poor defending of his position.

Wrote Carrasco in all caps: "STAY HOME, IF YOU PLAY BASEBALL WITH YOU KID, BE CAREFUL PLEASE."

The bright side? This means Carrasco's pro athlete genes have carried to another generation. A one-time hit to the jewels is perhaps worth that success.

Plus, Carrasco is far from the only MLB pitcher to have been hurt by his child during coronavirus quarantine. Hall of Fame flamethrower John Smoltz was exposed by his daughter on social media last week for being terrible at pingpong. That's going to stick with Smoltz longer than this physical pain will stick with Carrasco.
