To celebrate today's anniversary of Hank Aaron's historic 715th home run on April 8, 1974, here's a related story you've probably never heard.

Ten years to the day after Aaron made history to become the all-time home run champ, he stepped back up to the plate at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium — at age 50 — and blasted another homer to almost the same spot as the record-breaker.

The victim once again: the Dodgers' Al Downing. What are the odds?

Well, pretty good actually.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the homer in 1984, Aaron and Downing suited up in their respective teams' uniforms to re-recreate the historic moment.

Watch Aaron take Downing deep again — to nearly the same spot — in this vintage Turner Sports report from Craig Sager.

The report doesn't say how many tries it took Aaron to launch the anniversary homer, but it doesn't really matter. That he could still hit a baseball 400 feet at age 50 is remarkable enough.
