Game 2 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Padres proved a real nail-biter, for more reasons than one.
Because perched between the wave of home runs, stolen bases and web gems that took place on Wednesday night was an actual goose.
You heard me right: A goose landed on the field in the eighth inning, setting up shop right outside the hole between first and second base.

It was a noteworthy moment for more reasons than one. For starters, the last goose to shake up a major league field like that had to be Gossage, right?
Second, the waterfowl's appearance caused a slight delay, with stadium personnel scrambling to escort the bird off the premises.

Lastly, it briefly took attention away from Padres closer Josh Hader, who showed signs of his old flame-throwing self in a four-out save of San Diego's series-evening 5-3 win.

Perhaps most importantly, the aquatic bird's presence set the internet alight. Here are some of our favorite tweets from a playoff cameo unlike any other:
The bird at the @Dodgers game was a Greater White-Fronted Goose. Bright lights can disorient birds that migrate at night, which this species does. Learn more here: https://t.co/NqRvzFZz63 pic.twitter.com/rz4Wnm9BtC

I am losing respect for everyone calling that goose a duck. Learn your waterfowl before you embarrass yourself further.

The Padres are asking Josh Hader for four outs. The first Padre to record a postseason save of more than one inning? Fittingly, Goose pic.twitter.com/R6QrPng7Jd

The Padres went to the World Series with Goose as their closer so this is a good omen.

Hi. 👋 Goose expert here. Geese only do this when they're very concerned about the state of competitive balance in baseball. Please delete your jokes and consider what the Dodgers are doing to the sport.
