There's already enough at stake when the Giants and Dodgers play during regular-season contests. There is no love lost between these two rival California franchises.
But the drama will be amped up throughout this series between San Francisco and Los Angeles. While the Dodgers have clinched the NL West and their spot in the postseason, the Giants are fighting desperately to stay in the wild-card race after slipping down below the Marlins and Reds, the two squads ahead of them in the race to catch the Cubs and Diamondbacks.
The road for San Francisco getting back into that final playoff spot will be anything but easy. Following this series with the Dodgers, the Giants host the surging Padres before hosting the Dodgers again for the season finale in San Francisco. Get into the playoffs, and a matchup with the soon-to-be-NL Central-winning Brewers appears to be next.
