George Springer injury update: Astros outfielder carted off field after crashing into wall image

George Springer was carted off the field in the fifth inning of the Astros' game against the Brewers on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old outfielder was forced to leave the game after his head appeared to hit the wall after he made a catch in centerfield. He stayed down on the ground for several moments before getting to his feet and exiting on the cart.

Springer came into the matchup slashing .296/.388/.573 with 30 home runs and 78 RBIs in 104 games this season. He spent time on the injured list earlier this season with a hamstring injury.

Springer was replaced by Kyle Tucker, Houston's top-ranked prospect who was called up earlier this week.

The Astros entered play Tuesday with a 90-49 record and a 10 1/2 game lead over the Athletics in the American League West.
