Corey Kluber injury update: Indians ace (broken arm) ramps up mound work image

Corey Kluber's comeback campaign is heating up.

The Indians right-hander threw his second bullpen session Sunday at Progressive Field, tossing 30 pitches as he continues to rehab from a broken forearm, cleveland.com reported.

It was just the second time Kluber, 33, threw off the mound since being struck on the right arm by a line drive off the bat of Marlins outfielder Brian Anderson in a game May 1.

According to Indians manager Terry Francona, Kluber is scheduled to throw again Wednesday, which should give the team a better indication of his impending availability.

“By all accounts, he’s doing a good job,” Francona said, via The Columbus Dispatch. “Other than breaking a bone, that’s really the only negative thing you could say. And that wasn’t really his fault.”

The two-time Cy Young Award winner had a 2-3 record with a 5.80 ERA in his first seven starts this season.

Despite missing Kluber and Carlos Carrasco, who was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in June, the Indians are second in the AL Central behind the Twins.
