The Dallas Keuchel era in Atlanta has begun.

As expected, the Braves called up the former Cy Young winner — who signed a 1-year, $13 million deal in early June — on Friday, the same day he is expected to make his first start of the season.

Atlanta (44-31), which leads the NL East by four games over the Phillies, has seen mixed results from their starting pitching this season. Youngsters Mike Soroka and Max Fried have been positive additions, while Mike Foltynewicz and Kevin Gausman look like a shell of their old selves, with the latter currently on the injured list. The Braves are hoping the veteran Keuchel, who brings a wealth of playoff experience, can provide some stability.

Keuchel boasts a 3.28 ERA over his last five seasons, with a 1.18 WHIP and 3.45 FIP. He tied for the major league in 2018 with 34 games started and has thrown 51 2/3 playoff innings to go with a 3.31 ERA in his career.
