Superstitions are sacred in sports, even though they may seem ridiculous.

In hockey, it is forbidden to recognize a goalie's shutout until it is complete. In baseball, fans won't even acknowledge if their pitcher is throwing a no-hitter until the 27th out is recorded.

No matter what, there are those that attempt to spoil it.

James Paxton put on a dominant performance against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night as the Canadian threw the sixth no-hitter in Mariners history. As Paxton worked through each inning, the likelihood of the Blue Jays being held hitless grew. The Blue Jays social media team did its best to reverse Toronto's misfortune against the Mariners and jinx Paxton in the process. Big Maple was not intimidated.

"Of all places, to do it in Toronto. It's pretty amazing," Paxton told Sportsnet after the game.

The Blue Jays started with a simple message after the sixth inning to spread awareness.

Then they started to get a little worried when Paxton needed six more outs to complete the feat.

No harm in trying, right?

After Paxton completed the feat and became the second Canuck in MLB history to pitch a no-hitter, the Blue Jays' Twitter account accepted defeat with grace and typical Canadian humility.
