Postseason baseball is here. The Blue Jays play their first game of the 2022 MLB playoffs, as Toronto hosts the Seattle Mariners in the first game of a best-of-three AL Wild Card Series.
Toronto began the season with World Series aspirations and while the club was not able to win the AL East, the Blue Jays did get the top wild card spot in the American League. The team finished with a record of 92-70, seven games behind the Yankees for the division.
The Blue Jays have not won a playoff round since 2016, when the team made it to the ALCS before falling to Cleveland. Now, with a crew led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alek Manoah, Bo Bichette and Co., Toronto is aiming to make a deep postseason run.
Manoah gets the ball in Game 1, as he will be squaring off against Luis Castillo, the Mariners' key trade deadline acquisition.
