Apparently the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings aren't all business.

At a press conference on Wednesday morning in Orlando, Blue Jays' manager John Gibbons responded to being ranked 30th (out of 30) in NBC Sports' annual poll of Baseball's Most Handsome Managers.

"That’s shocking, especially since Gardi’s (Ron Gardenhire) back," Gibbons joked with reporters.

Gardenhire, 60, ranked 21st on this year's list in his return to MLB to manage the Detroit Tigers, while Gibbons, 55, dropped four places from last year's edition. Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler, 42, tops the chart in his first season, according to NBC Sports' Craig Calcaterra.

On the bright side for Gibbons, Calcaterra notes that "no manager is ugly" and that this year's group "is a more handsome collection of men than we have ever had in the game at one time, but someone has to be at the bottom of the list".

"That kind of brought me down to my knees a little bit," Gibbons told reporters. "But, you know, hey, beauty’s only skin deep but ugly’s to the bone.”

On a more serious note, Gibbons said that he was not in Tuesday's meeting with free agent starter CC Sabathia, but admitted that he has "always loved him" as a player. He also denied the possibility that third baseman Josh Donaldson's contract situation could become a distraction for him or the team next season. Gibbons believes that having only a year remaining on his current deal "will motivate him more".
