Blue Jays draft picks 2022: Who did Toronto select in the MLB Draft? image

While the Blue Jays are in the middle of a tightly packed AL East race, their scouting department is focused on Toronto's future.

The 2022 MLB Draft is here and Toronto needs to replenish its prospect pool. With the Blue Jays taking a step forward to becoming true contenders, they have given up some of their top prospects recently in order to bolster the MLB roster, and they can reload the farm system starting this week during the three-day draft period..

In fact, general manager Ross Atkins has traded away both the team's 2020 and 2021 first-round picks. Austin Martin, the No. 5 pick from 2020, was traded in the package to receive Jose Berrios from the Twins at the 2021 trade deadline and Gunnar Hoglund, the No. 19 pick in 2021, was sent to the A's in the offseason acquisition of Matt Chapman.

Amateur scouting director Shane Farrell is set to lead his third draft with the Blue Jays, tasked with finding the club's stars for years to come.
