Best MLB prop bets today: Zack Wheeler, Yordan Alvarez highlight top picks for Astros-Rangers, Phillies-Diamondbacks image

Monday's MLB slate features two must-watch championship series matchups, offering a seamless transition for sports fans and bettors following an exhilarating weekend on the gridiron.

The red-hot Rangers look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Astros, while the Phillies and Diamondbacks kick off the NLCS at the raucous Citizens Bank Park. Searching for actionable props to make today's MLB playoff games a bit more intriguing? Head over to SuperDraft to craft your favorite player prop parlay(s).

SuperDraft users can win 3X the amount wagered if their two-legged player prop parlay hits. Consequently, the more legs you add to your player prop parlay, the larger your potential payout becomes, but as the long odds indicate, completing a clean sweep is challenging. If you were to put down a $20 entry fee and all four of our props below hit, you'd get a $200 payout.

Below, we'll break down four of our favorite player props on SuperDraft for today's MLB championship series doubleheader. Users don't necessarily have to parlay all four picks together, though. Instead, you could make separate two-legged parlays to increase your win probability or attempt to hit it big if all four picks come through.

*10x potential payout if users parlay all four correct picks

1. Zack Wheeler, P, Phillies - OVER 6.5 strikeouts

Wheeler's been a strikeout machine through his first two postseason starts, racking up 18 strikeouts in just 13 innings. His ability to overpower hitters by getting them to chase elevated fastballs has been one of his keys to success while overlaying his heater with a nasty curveball to keep hitters on their toes. While the Diamondbacks are a stingy offense that struck out at the fourth lowest clip in the regular season (20.5 percent), Wheeler retired seven D-backs via the strikeout in his lone start against them back in mid-June.

There's a chance Phillies manager Rob Thompson goes to his fully rested bullpen before Wheeler faces the Diamondbacks order a third time. Still, there's a chance we see the Phillies ace work north of six innings if he gets ample run support and his pitch count is relatively low. We'll take our chances on a guy whose fastball's generated the fourth-highest whiff rate (31.3 percent) to punch out seven-plus tonight.

2. Yordan Alvarez, DH, Astros - OVER 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Despite grinding out his at-bats against lefthanders Jordan Montgomery and Aroldis Chapman in Game 1, Alvarez was hitless in Houston's 2-0 loss. However, we don't expect that to carry over into Game 2, as he's in a prime spot to bounce back against Texas' righthander Nathan Eovaldi.

Alvarez has dominated Eovaldi in their seven head-to-head at-bats, going five-for-seven with a double and a home run (1.952 OPS). He should be amped up not to face a lefthander to start the day, which we think translates to a successful day at the plate, resulting in the 'Stros designated hitter going OVER 1.5 total hits, runs, and RBIs.

3. Ketel Marte, 2B, Diamondbacks - UNDER 6 fantasy points

Since we think Wheeler's in line for another dominant outing, we'll fade the Diamondbacks two-hole hitter. The switch-hitting second basemen has been a steady bat in the Snakes' lineup all season, but he hasn't been nearly as successful swinging left-handed when matched up against righties.

Marte's still an above-average hitter on both sides of the plate, but his weighted runs created plus drops from 138 against LHP to 122 against RHP. His batting average against lefties compared to righties also dips from .313 to .259, so we'll take our chances on Wheeler keeping Marte at bay in Game 1.

For those curious about the exact fantasy point scoring rules for hitters, here's a look at SuperDraft's MLB scoring breakdown:

Hitting Stats Pts Per
Singles 2
Doubles 4
Triples 6
Home Runs 8
RBIs 2
Runs 2
Hitter Walks 2
Stolen Bases 3
Hit by Pitch 2

4. Jonah Heim, C, Rangers - UNDER 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Despite Heim faring well against lefthanders, slashing .325/.374/.482 this season, he hasn't seen the ball well off Valdez. Heim's gone three-of-14 against Houston's lefthander, so it's hard to envision Texas' switch-hitting catcher totaling two-plus hits, runs, and RBIs in what could be another lower-scoring pitcher duel.
