Yordan Alvarez's power is prodigious.
Just how prodigious is it? Well, the 22-year-old broke part of the Astros' scoreboard at Minute Maid Park during batting practice Saturday.

Alvarez started off this season as the best power hitter in all of the minor leagues. He was leading MILB in home runs and RBIs when he was called up to Houston and picked up right where he left off.
He hit four home runs in his first five games — including one in his MLB debut — and hasn't really slowed down since as he is batting .327 with 19 home runs and 57 RBIs in 57 career games. His totals across all levels this year? He is batting .335 with 42 home runs and 128 RBIs.
What might be even more impressive though, since coming up to MLB, Alvarez has an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 1.101 and an OPS+ of 185. Two-time MVP Mike Trout has an OPS of 1.090 and an OPS+ of 184 on the year. That's pretty solid company.
Alvarez feels pretty good about that and what he did to the scoreboard.

How unbelievable is it that Houston acquired Alvarez straight up in a trade for reliever Josh Fields?
