Alex Bregman injury update: Astros star (hamstring) exits game with 'tweak, strain, whatever' image

Alex Bregman is considered day-to-day after hurting his hamstring.

The Astros infielder suffered a right hamstring injury while running the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning of Tuesday's 6-3 comeback win over the Yankees.

Bregman exited the game for a pinch runner and confirmed (via the Houston Chronicle) he felt "a little tweak, strain, whatever" in his hamstring.

When asked how many games he expects to miss, Bregman replied: "Hopefully just (Wednesday)."

The Astros didn't seem too concerned as outfielder George Springer said the team wants Bregman to be completely healthy before he returns, indicating missing a few games now will be far less detrimental than sitting out down the stretch of the season.

"It’s very, very early," Springer said, per MLB.com. "He doesn’t try to need to be the hero. I’m going to tell him to be smart, make sure you’re 100 percent."

Manager AJ Hinch added: "We’ll see how he feels the next couple of days."

Bregman, 25, is batting .341 this season and finished Tuesday’s matchup with an eight-game hitting streak after slugging a double in the seventh inning. He is batting .500 with seven walks during that span.
