It was a big week for Mexican players in Europe, with several of Mexico manager Juan Carlos Osorio's players set to arrive in camp in a great mood.
Hirving Lozano and PSV were crowned champions in the Netherlands after dispatching of Ajax 3-0. That put them 10 points clear of the second-place side from Amsterdam, meaning the celebrations could begin. It's the former Pachuca player's first season abroad, and while the Eredivisie top scorer prize may be slipping from his grasp after another scoreless match, it has been an enormous success for "Chucky". The 22-year-old may be set for another move after the World Cup.
A late goal from Hector Herrera lifted Porto to victory over Benfica, with the Dragons leapfrogging their rivals to the summit. Porto now controls its own destiny but will win the title in Portugal if it can win out. Jesus "Tecatito" Corona came into Sunday's match as a substitute while center back Diego Reyes was an unused sub. On the losing side, Raul Jimenez started and played the full 90 minutes but couldn't extend his scoring streak.
It was a mixed bag in Spain with defender Hector Moreno not entering Real Sociedad's weekend win over Las Palmas but Miguel Layun holding down the left back spot for Sevilla in Tuesday's scoreless draw at Deportivo La Coruna.
Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez made it onto the field as a substitute for West Ham United. It was Andy Carroll's goal that brought the Hammers level with Stoke City on Monday, though.
In Belgium, Guillermo Ochoa helped Standard Liege get back to winning ways in the playoff portion of their season, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Gent. He returns to action Wednesday against Anderlecht.
