Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic is out of the club’s Champions League meeting with Manchester United on Tuesday.

Goal understands the 32-year-old Croatia international will miss the match against Jose Mourinho’s side due to an injury to his left ankle, dealing a blow to Juventus’ attacking options.

Massimiliano Allegri has seen the striker net four times for him so far this season and provide a further two assists in the 10 games he has played.

The news would have been more severe for Juve had Cristiano Ronaldo been suspended. There was a threat the Portuguese might have missed this game due to a ban after he was sent off against Valencia in the opening clash of the group stage, though he was subsequently handed a one-game, allowing him to play the Old Trafford match.

Juve will take a strong squad with them for the fixture, although they are also bereft of midfielder Sami Khedira, who will be absent because of a muscular problem that prevented him featuring in the 1-1 draw with Genoa at the weekend.

Otherwise, Allegri has all of his regular stars available.

United have their own injury concerns to contend with after Alexis Sanchez was ruled out by Jose Mourinho while there are some lingering doubts over the fitness Marouane Fellaini, Marcus Rashford and defender Diogo Dalot.
