Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen put in his papers after the club suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chennai City FC at the Bagan ground on Tuesday evening.

The club is currently placed in the fifth position on the I-League table with just two wins from seven matches. Although the Green and Maroon brigade won the bragging rights in the Kolkata derby on December 3, their performances since then have only gone downhill.

“It’s the end of the road for me. It is the right time to take responsibility on my shoulders and move away from the club.

“I don’t have the mentality to work at this club anymore,” said Sanjoy Sen.

Mohun Bagan senior official Debasish Dutta mentioned that the new coach will hopefully be announced on Wednesday. "He (Sen) came to me after the game and shared his decision. We will decide tonight and by tomorrow, we shall share the name of the new coach. There will be no practice tomorrow. The new coach will definitely be present when the team trains on Thursday. We will still have good relations with Sen."
