Tony Romo has come up short on the course once again.
The former Cowboys quarterback and current CBS analyst will not advance to sectional qualifying for the U.S. Open after shooting a 3-over 74 in the local qualifier at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, on Monday.
According to ESPN, Romo missed the chance for one of the eight spots available to move on by three strokes.
It's the third consecutive year Romo will not advance to sectional qualifying, though he did in 2010.
Romo told ESPN he hopes to play in the Mid-Amateur and Northeast Amateur later this summer and will attempt to defend his title at the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe in July.
He appeared on the PGA Tour through a sponsor exemption last week and while he failed to make the cut after shooting 76 and 74 at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, he shot his two best rounds ever in PGA Tournament play.
