Former Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo is impressing on his PGA Tour debut as back-to-back birdies sent him to even par through the sixth hole at the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.
Romo is one of only two amateur players in the field in the Dominican Republic, playing on the Tour for the first time, having previously attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open.

The retired NFL quarterback spoke earlier this week of getting "in your own bubble" on the course, and he did that on the fourth and fifth holes in the opening round to recover from consecutive bogeys to start.
Romo, 37, promised to take his Tour bow seriously and he looked set for a solid opening round early Thursday.
