Fresh off a strong showing at The Players, Tiger Woods has committed to playing the Memorial at Muirfield Village in Ohio, the tournament announced Wednesday on Twitter.

"HE'S BACK! … Who else is excited??" the tweet reads, in part.

The tournament — which runs May 31-June 3 — features another strong field with new world No. 1 Justin Thomas joining Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson and Jason Day among those already committed for the event that holds a special place on the PGA Tour because it's hosted by Hall of Famer Jack Nicklaus.

The Golden Bear himself acknowledged how good the 2018 field is shaping up to be with the additions of Woods and Thomas, tweeting: "Terrific @MemorialGolf field got even better today ... Wow!"

This year will mark Woods' 15th trip to the Memorial, an event he has won five times, most recently in 2012. Perhaps more important, it will mark his eighth event of 2018 (he's also committed to play in the U.S. Open next month), putting him on a pace to play the most events since his 2013 season, the last time he won on tour.

Not only is he playing more frequently in his return from another back surgery, but he is also is more frequently flashing his enormous skill.

After making the cut on the number at The Players, he at one point late Sunday moved into a tie for second place before faltering and sliding into a tie for 11th.
