Scottie Scheffler established himself as a solid golfer during the 2021 PGA Tour season. It was just his second at the PGA Tour level, but he made 21 of 24 cuts and earned top-10 finishes at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship.
Scheffler was certainly beginning to show promise and had risen to become the 12th-ranked player in the world entering the 2022 season. It was expected that he would be routinely in contention at PGA Tour events and he would have a chance to earn his first victory.
Suffice to say, Scheffler has exceeded even the loftiest projections for him entering the season.
Scheffler earned not only his first PGA Tour win but also his first major victory in 2022. He tacked on a couple more wins and managed to fly up the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) thanks to his top-shelf performance.
Now, Scheffler is the No. 1 player in the world and seems poised to remain in that spot for quite some time. He also broke a record for the most earnings in a single PGA Tour season by virtue of his T-2 finish at the 2022 U.S. Open.
How hot has Scheffler been in 2022? Here's a rundown of the 26-year-old's season to date and how he has taken home so much prize money.

Scottie Scheffler 2022 results
Scheffler has posted one of the best seasons in recent PGA Tour history in 2022. He earned his first win in a playoff at the Phoenix Open back in February, and that kickstarted a red-hot streak that propelled him up to his current world No. 1 ranking.
Just a few weeks after winning the Phoenix Open, Scheffler logged his second victory in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. A couple of weeks later, he beat Kevin Kisner in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play after finishing runner-up in the event last year. That gave him three wins for the year.
Just a couple of weeks later, Scheffler earned his biggest victory. He took home the green jacket at the Masters after shooting a sterling 10 under for the event.
So, over the course of two months, and six events played, Scheffler earned all four of his PGA Tour victories. He also put together a streak of 14 consecutive events without a missed cut, something that is extremely difficult to do on the PGA Tour.
Even more impressive is that Scheffler his finished in the top 25 or better in 15 of his 21 PGA Tour events. Below is a breakdown of his performance during the 2022 season:
Stat | Total |
Wins | 4 |
Runner-up finishes | 3 |
Top-10 finishes | 9 |
Top-25 finishes | 15 |
Made cuts | 18 |
Missed cuts | 3 |
Scheffler has carded 10 under or better in 11 of his 21 PGA Tour appearances this season and has finished just three events over par. His best overall score was 19 under at the Byron Nelson in mid-May and his overall round-by-round scoring average of 69.194 ranks third-best on tour.
There's no doubt that Scheffler has put up some impressive numbers this season that have included a lot of firsts. Still, nothing is quite as impressive as the prize money he has taken home during the 2022 PGA Tour season.

Most PGA Tour prize money in a single year

Scheffler became one of just four players in PGA Tour history to earn $10 million-plus in a single season. Tiger Woods is the only golfer to ever do it more than once, having achieved the feat three times.
