American Robert Garrigus is the unexpected leader of the RBC Canadian Open through the first day of play, as the 40-year-old shot a 63 in the first round. Following Garrigus on the leaderboard are two Americans, Adam Schenk and Chris Stroud, who shot 64 and 65 on Thursday, respectively.

The two highest Canadians on the leaderboard are David Hearn and Nick Taylor, who are tied for 22nd after they each shot 68. Dustin Johnson, who was the odds-on favorite coming into the tournament, is one of the 17 golfers tied with Hearn and Taylor for 22nd.

Canadians Michael Gilgic, Mackenzie Hughes, Chris Crisologo and Roger Sloan are one shot behind the aforementioned group. Hughes, Crisologo and Sloan couldn’t finish their round due to multiple suspensions of play. Hughes has completed 17 holes while Crisologo has completed 14. Sloan has only finished 12 holes.
