The Players Championship hits a major milestone in 2024 as it celebrates the 50th year of the acclaimed tournament.
While it's not technically one, the Players Championship is often referred to as "the fifth major" on the PGA Tour alongside the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and the Open Championship.
The competition remains at TPC Sawgrass, a par-72 course with a total distance of 7,245 yards located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Tom Hoge holds the course record with a 62, which he tallied in the third round of the 2023 tournament.
Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will look to become the first-ever back-to-back winner at the Players after he took home the trophy in 2023 with a score of 17 under par. He'll be coming off a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational as well.
Other former winners such as Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson, Si-Woo Kim, Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar will also be there.
The most notable omission is two-time Players Championship winner Tiger Woods, who is not among the final field of participants.

What channel is the Players Championship on today?
The Players Championship will air split time on Golf Channel and NBC throughout the tournament. The first two rounds will air on Golf Channel, while the last two rounds will air on NBC.
Audiences can watch the Players Championship on multiple streams.
Early morning coverage will be on ESPN+. Peacock will air simulcasts of Golf Channel and NBC. Fubo is another option that will air simulcasts of the Players Championship.
