Adam Hadwin shot a 3-under 69 on Thursday, putting him in a seven-way tie for fourth after the first round at Augusta.
Hadwin hit five birdies in his opening round, including four on the back nine as he made a late-round charge up the leaderboard. The 30-year-old shot for par in each of his first eight holes before birdying three of the next four, propelling him among the early challengers and setting him up nicely for Friday's second round.

The Canadian entered the final hole of the round at 4-under, but bogeyed on the 18th. The late slip-up couldn't tarnish a strong opening round for Hadwin, who said prior to teeing off Thursday that his game suits the course at Augusta National well.
"I feel good," Hadwin told TSN earlier this week. "I'm seeing the shots I need to see and they're actually coming off the club face that same way."
