Brooke Henderson's name jumped up in the Canadian record books Saturday.
Henderson, who was the recipient of the 2017 Rosenfeld Award by the Canadian Press, captured her first win of the year and sixth career LPGA victory in winning the Lotte Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club in Hawaii. Henderson won by four strokes over Spain's Azahara Munoz.
Henderon shot a three-under 69 Saturday to extend her lead to four strokes. She finished the tournament 12 under par.
At 20 years old, Henderson is now two victories behind Sandra Post for the most ever by a Canadian on the LPGA tour.
Henderon also joined Post as the second Canadian golfer to earn a win in four consecutive seasons.
The Smith Falls native also dedicated her performance to the victims of the Humboldt tragedy. Sixteen people died when a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos, a junior team in the Saskatchewan league, crashed last week when a tractor trailer collided with it. Henderson played her rounds with green and yellow ribbon in her hair, the teams colors.
