Brooke Henderson has started off strong in 2019. Following a first round 65, along with Korea's Eun-Hee Ji, Henderson shot a 67 in the second round to take sole possession atop the leaderboard at the Diamond Resort Tournament of Champions.
Now at 10-under-par, the Smith Falls, Ont., native notched four birdies and was the only player to not bogey a hole on Friday. She is two strokes ahead of Eun-Hee Ji, Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn and New Zealand’s Lydia Ko. Jutanugarn is No. 1 on the Women's World Golf Rankings, while Henderson is ninth.

The event held in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. showcases LPGA Tour winners from the last two years and only has 26 players competing. In 2018, Henderson Henderson made history as the first Canadian woman to win the national championship since Jocelyne Bourassa in 1973. The title was the seventh LPGA Tour title of her career and needs one career win to tie fellow Canadian golfers Sandra Post, George Knudson and Mike Weir on the all-time wins list.
