Tony Romo shot his best round ever in PGA Tournament play but he's still far off the cutline.
The former Cowboys quarterback shot a 5-over 76 at the AT&T Byron Nelson on Thursday besting his previous best round in a PGA Tour event of 77.
That still puts him well back of the projected cutline though as he sits in a tie for 148th place at the tournament.
Romo though can brag he did best three golfers on the track though as Jose de Jesus Rodriguez shot 6 over and Jonathan Byrd and Martin Trainer both shot 7 over.
The current CBS analyst was excited with the experience at the Byron Nelson even if he didn't shoot the round he wanted to.
“It was fantastic," Romo told WFAA. "I could feel the energy. People pulling for ya.”

Romo will have a lot of work to do on Friday if he hopes to make the cut.
Depending on how the cut is done, Romo will either have to make up five shots to get into the top 100 players or he'll have to pick up three to get within 10 of the leaders.
