Adam Scott had virtually zero chance to challenge for the green jacket at the 2021 Masters Tournament heading into moving day on Saturday.
He has even less of a chance after suffering an absolutely abysmal round that included four bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey through 16 holes. That put him at 7-over 79 for the round and 10 over overall for the tournament.
Things started out well enough for Scott as he earned par on each of the first three holes. But bogeyed on Holes 4 and 5 before double-bogeying on 7 to put him at 4 over. He got one shot back on Hole 8 — his first birdie since the second hole of Round 2 — but things didn't get much better from there.

Fast-forward to Hole 15, where Scott attempted to get a shot back on the par-5 hole after bogeying and birdying the prior two holes. His first shot didn't land on the fairway, but the 319-yard drive left him in decent position to get to the green in two strokes (just 215 yards away).
Unfortunately for Scott, he overshot the green and the ball rolled down the backside embankment, 35 yards from the pin; he also called a one-stroke penalty on himself for his ball moving at address. He then proceeded to hit the next ball into the drink on the other side of the green. He needed three more shots — one of which very nearly rolled into the water again — just to salvage a triple bogey.
Oh, then he bogeyed on the next hole, too. (Here's a handy shot-by-shot breakdown from Masters.com).
Naturally, Twitter was quick to jump on the 2013 Master winner's misfortune:
