Scott Piercy had it going at the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
The 40-year-old shot a 9-under 62 to lead by two after the first round over Hideki Matsuyama and Adam Hadwin.

Piercy's 62 tied his best round of the year. He finished off his day with six birdies on his final eight holes.
Matsuyama was in the lead for much of the day as he made eight birdies to just one dropped shot, but Piercy closed out his round on fire, putting Matsuyama two shots back after a 7-under 64.
Hadwin had three birdies on his front nine but five on the back to go with one bogey to finish at 7 under, as well.
Five golfers sit three shots back of Piercy at 6 under.
Elsewhere on the course, Bryson DeChambeau is four shots back at 5 under as is Tony Finau, Brooks Koepka is five back at 4 under and Jason Day is seven back at 2 under.

Phil Mickelson struggled on his round shooting a 3-over 74.
