The Golden State Warriors have signed star forward Draymond Green to a four-year, $100 million extension, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

As Wojnarowski mentions, Green was set to enter free agency unrestricted next offseason. The Warriors have decided they don't want to await Green's decision, locking up the 29-year old forward through 2024.

The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor was the first to point out that Green took a massive paycut to remain with Golden State. Green was eligible for a five-year, $204 million deal with the Warriors if he entered free agency next summer. He also would have been eligible for a four-year, $151 million contract should he have decided to go elsewhere.

With this signing, the Warriors have committed to their core for the next few years.

Green's extension will kick in in 2020-21, bringing his overall deal to five years, $118 million.

The three-time All-Star and former Defensive Player of the Year is coming off of one of the most impressive stints in his career this past postseason, averaging 13.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while helping the Warriors reach their fifth consecutive NBA Finals.

Green has won three titles with the Warriors while also adding five All-Defensive honours to his growing résumé.
