ATLANTA — The nominees for the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team were announced at SEC Media Days on Tuesday.
A total of 169 student-athletes were nominated for their contributions in their respective communities and volunteer efforts. The Allstate AFCA Good Works team will be composed of 11 players from the FBS and 11 more players from the FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA. That team will be unveiled in September.
"This year is another really strong representation from this conference," ESPN analyst Matt Stinchcomb told Sporting News. "I think one of the highest honors you can receive as a college football player and student because it represents the type of person and the type of kid they are."

Stinchcomb, a former member of the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, was impressed with the 12 members who represented the SEC. That includes Alabama's Jamey Mosley, Arkansas' Hjalte Froholdt, Auburn's Derrick Brown, Florida's Fred Johnson, Georgia's Rodrigo Blankenship, Kentucky's C.J. Conrad, LSU's Blake Ferguson, Missouri's Corey Fatony, Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald, Tennessee's Kyle Phillips, Texas A&M's Erik McCory and Vanderbilt's Khari Blasingame.
Stinchcomb mentioned Blankenship, a kicker whose popularity on and off the field continues to grow with the Bulldogs.
"Rodrigo Blankenship is kind of a cult hero at the University of Georgia," Stinchcomb said. "He hit two of the most clutch field goals in college football history, arguably. He hit a 55-yarder in the Rose Bowl and a 51-yarder in the national title game. He does a lot in the community. This list (of nominees) is long and the list is distinguished."
