F1 Singapore Grand Prix preview: Previous winners, lap record, circuit layout, history and more image

There are just eight rounds left of the 2023 F1 season and this week takes us to Singapore.

Sergio Perez won last year's race at Marina Bay Street Circuit in 2022 beating the two Ferraris in Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. Max Verstappen and Red Bull will be hoping to continue their dominance as the Dutchman overtook Sebastian Vettel for the most consecutive wins in Formula 1 with a 10th straight victory a fortnight ago at the Italian GP.

Ferrari looked competitive in Italy and made Verstappen work for the win – something that has rarely happened this season. Can they bring the pace to this weekend's street circuit?

The Sporting News takes a look at the layout of the circuit, its previous winners and some interesting facts about Marina Bay.

Who holds the fastest lap record at the Singapore Grand Prix?

Kevin Magnussen  1:41.905 (2018)

In 2018, Magnussen was able to earn team Haas their first-ever fastest lap in Formula 1.

After being knocked out of qualifying in Q1, Magnussen went on to struggle during the race. Haas pitted him late and put on the hypersoft compound tyre.

Magnussen would then go on to set a new lap record for the tweaked circuit beating Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton's previous best of 1:45.008, which was on the previous layout.

Unfortunately for the Danish driver, it was worth nothing more than a smile as he finished 18th.
