Flowers don't often bloom until the spring, but the Ravens are hoping theirs can get a head start as winter approaches. Baltimore is searching for a new No. 1 in the receiving game as Mark Andrews (ankle) is likely out for the year, and rookie Zay Flowers is likely first on the list. As the Ravens adjust their game plan going forward, fantasy football owners expect to see more of an emphasis on the WRs, meaning that Flower's injury status ahead of Sunday night's matchup against the Chargers becomes that much more important.
We'll continue to update this article with news on Flowers until the official active/inactive report comes out on Sunday around 6:50 p.m. ET, so check back for the latest.
WEEK 12 INJURY UPDATES:
White/Pierce/Hollywood | OBJ | Jefferson
Is Zay Flowers playing Sunday night Week 12?
UPDATE: ESPN's Adam Schefter reported late Saturday night that Flowers is expected to play against the Chargers.
UPDATE 2: Flowers is officially ACTIVE.
Flowers (hip) had quite the week of practice, especially if you enjoy rollercoaster rides. He popped up on the injury report Wednesday, logging a limited practice. Then came the dreaded downgrade on Thursday, listed as a DNP, before upgrading to a full participant on Friday. Naturally, fantasy owners are still worried about the receivers' status for Sunday night, but they have nothing to worry about if they listen to him. Flowers told ESPN's Jamison Hensley on Friday that he will play against the Chargers, saying, "That's not even a question."
WEEK 12 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kickers
The rookie, along with his fellow receivers are in line for a great matchup against a Chargers' secondary that has been torched more often than not this season. L.A. is allowing the second-most yards to the position in 2023 (198.3), which could become problematic for them with Baltimore relying on their WRs more without Mark Andrews (ankle) for the foreseeable future.
Flowers leads the team in targets (72), receptions (53), and receiving yards (588), but he only has one touchdown to show for it. For Flowers to take his fantasy season to the next level, he needs to find paydirt more often. This matchup against the Chargers would be a great first step in the rookie's breakout down the stretch.
WEEK 12 FANTASY ADVICE:
Sleepers | Busts | Projections | Start-sit
It seems as though there is no doubt in his availability for Sunday night, so start him with confidence. If he's an unlikely inactive, your next best option is looking at Rashod Bateman or Nelson Agholor. Regardless, Flowers is one to wait around for.
