Fantasy Football Week 8 Sleepers: Raiders backup RBs Jalen Richard, DeAndre Washington both on the start-sit bubble image

With six teams on bye, fantasy football owners will be starting some guys they'd never thought they would. Can't decide between Jalen Richard or DeAndre Washington? We like both. Should you trust Andy Dalton? Take a deep breath and do it. Can the notoriously bad Saints D/ST continue to have major fantasy value? We think so. Besides these players, we've outlined some more former/future waiver wire pickups in our Week 8 sleeper picks you might be considering starting this week .

Last week, we picked a solid amount of streamers, like Tyrod Taylor, Jared Goff, Titans D/ST, and Dolphins D/ST, among others, who hopefully helped fantasy owners get that Week 7 win, and we hope to continue our trend of finding the top streamer picks in Week 8.

Week 8 fantasy football sleepers: Running backs

Tevin Coleman, Falcons @ Jets (Tony Fortier-Bensen). The Jets have allowed 10-plus points to secondary backs four times this season, and Coleman, who was averaging nearly 10 points per game prior to last week, can put up a similar performance.

Jalen Richard, Raiders @ Bills (Vinnie Iyer). Game flow will allow him to be effective as a receiver and make him a slightly better play than DeAndre Washington.

DeAndre Washington, Raiders @ Bills (Matt Lutovsky). Jalen Richard has looked like the better overall back than Washington, but there's no clear indication who will get more touches. Given their almost identical builds, it doesn't make sense for one to get goal-line touches over the other either. However, Washington got that call last week, so we're giving him that slight edge despite Richard's more impressive overall resume. Bottom line -- both can have value against a Bills defense that has struggled a bit containing backs in the passing game.

Week 8 fantasy football sleepers: Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor, Bills vs. Raiders (Fortier-Bensen). If you gambled on Taylor last week, he rewarded you with a top-10 fantasy QB week.  He’s put up at least 20 points in three home games, and he can make it four against a weak Raiders defense.

Cam Newton, Panthers @ Bucs (Iyer). Newton doesn’t like to be hit and loves to throw the ball downfield. That lines up well here as he follows Tyrod Taylor's great game against Tampa’s D last week.

Andy Dalton, Bengals vs. Colts (Lutovsky). The Colts have allowed at least 295 passing yards in every game but one (to Cleveland), so Dalton should pile up yards and probably a couple touchdowns in this home matchup.

Week 8 fantasy football sleepers: Wide receivers

Nelson Agholor, Eagles vs. 49ers (Fortier-Bensen). Agholor is still labeled as a boom-or-bust player , but he’s recorded at least four catches, 45-plus yards and  aTD in the past three games. The Eagles pass-heavy offense should give Agholor another great day.

Danny Amendola, Patriots vs. Chargers (Iyer). L.A. can give up a lot to the slot receiver given the good play of its corners outside. Amendola can do what Jarvis Landry did earlier this year.

Mohamed Sanu, Falcons @ Jets (Lutovsky). Sanu has about a five-catch, 55-yard floor in a given week, and against a Jets defense that was just roasted by the Dolphins mediocre passing game, he has a much higher ceiling.

Week 8 fantasy football sleepers: Tight ends

Tyler Kroft, Bengals vs. Colts (Fortier-Bensen). Since Tyler Eifert’s injury, Kroft has three touchdowns in four games, and the Colts have struggled all year against TEs.

Jason Witten, Cowboys @ Redskins (Iyer). Washington is getting whitewashed by tight ends, and with the Giants off, they’re your best bet to attack after Witten came through in a tough matchup last week

Nick O'Leary, Bills vs. Raiders (Lutovsky).  O'Leary has been good for 50-plus yards in each of the past two games, and TEs remain important in Buffalo's offense, as we saw last week when Logan Thomas caught a TD. The Raiders allow the 10th-most FPPG to TEs, so this is a nice matchup, too.

Week 8 fantasy football sleepers: Defenses

New Orleans Saints vs. Bears (Fortier-Bensen). The Saints D/ST is rolling with 10 turnovers in its past four games, and the good times will continue to roll against rookie Mitchell Trubisky and the anemic Bears offense.

Atlanta Falcons @ Jets (Iyer). The Falcons’ defense is playing much better than its offense. They'll take advantage of a bad overall group that doesn’t match up well with their speed.

Miami Dolphins vs Ravens (Lutovsky). Miami struggled last week with the Jets, but the Ravens continue to throw INTs and struggle to score at an alarming rate. Even in a road Thursday game, the Dolphins can ugly it up and have value.
