Fantasy WR PPR Rankings Week 4: Who to start, sit at wide receiver in fantasy football image

As has been the case so far in the early season, our Week 4 fantasy PPR rankings don’t differ too much from standard scoring formats, but there are a few notable differences. One thing that stays the same: Potential sleepers and busts based on matchups and target distribution.

The top of our PPR rankings are headlined by the reliable target hogs Cooper Kupp (@ 49ers in Week 4), Stefon Diggs (@ Ravens), and Ja’Marr Chase (vs. Dolphins), who also headline our standard WR rankings. At the end of the day, stud WRs are stud WRs, regardless of your scoring format. Yes, TDs play a big part in differentiating what makes a player more valuable in standard versus PPR, but it’s really all about making plays on Sundays. Even if a star has a down game, like Justin Jefferson (vs. Saints) did last week, it's safe to expect a bounce-back performance.

The difference between a winning and losing week can sometimes come down to who you start as your WR3/flex, not necessarily your plug-and-play regulars. Heading into Week 4, several rising pass catchers can fill the WR3/flex role admirably for fantasy owners. Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs (vs. Patriots in Week 4), Isaiah McKenzie (@ Ravens), Mack Hollins (vs. Broncos), Zay Jones (@ Eagles), Josh Reynolds and DJ Chark (vs. Seahawks), and Tyler Boyd (vs. Dolphins) all fit the bill. All of these players, with the exception of Chark, impressed in Week 3, and considering many are widely available in fantasy leagues, they can go right from the waiver wire to your lineup. Jones, Hollins, and Doubs figure to have the highest floors in PPR formats thanks to steady targets, but all can make plays in solid passing offenses.

WEEK 4 STANDARD RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kicker

We're obviously worried about what we've seen from D.J. Moore (vs. Cardinals), but a favorable matchup this week should help him get back on track. The same goes for Brandin Cooks (vs. Chargers), but we can't vouch for Darnell Mooney (@ Giants) anymore. Adam Thielen (vs. Saints) and Allen Robinson (@ 49ers) are also just middling PPR receivers at this point, and given their matchups, we wouldn't blame you for benching them. The same goes for Rashod Bateman (@ Bills) this week, but we're not overly concerned about JuJu Smith-Schuster (@ Buccaneers) given his QB and pass-happy offense.

WEEK 4 PPR RANKINGS:
QBs | RBs | TEs | D/STs | Kicker

On the injury front, numerous starter-worthy wideouts failed to suit up in Week 3 (Keenan Allen, Hunter Renfrow, Chris Godwin, Jakobi Meyers, Julio Jones, Mike Evans), while several pass catchers went to the locker room during game action (Garrett Wilson, Deebo Samuel, Michael Thomas, Tee Higgins). Thomas was the only one who didn't return, though.

WEEK 4 FANTASY PICKS: Sleepers | Busts | Start 'em, sit 'em

The return of Evans and likely Godwin (hamstring) hurts the value of Russell Gage (vs. Chiefs), but he still has some PPR appeal if Jones (knee) remains out. If Thomas (foot) is inactive in London, Tre'Quan Smith has WR3/flex potential against the Vikings. Meyers is typically a PPR mainstay, but if he's out again, DeVante Parker (@ Packers) will take over the Pats' WR1 role and be playable again.

WEEK 4 DFS: Best values | Best stacks

The bottom line is there are plenty of potential sleepers if you don't like your usual starters at WR, but as we've cautioned throughout the early portion of the season, don't overreact. It's still early, and wide receiver is the most volatile position in all of fantasy. We see players go from zero to hero (and vice/versa) all the time, so trust your gut and follow the targets.
